A Guide To Hotels In Tenerife

With so many to choose from, the sheer range of hotels in Tenerife can be a little daunting, especially if you need somewhere family friendly, or prefer to be in the heart of the nightlife. So here's our helpful guide to finding the right hotel for you, whether you want some cheap accommodation close to Siam Park, or prefer to have a luxurious, all inclusive hotel with endless amounts to do.

All-Inclusive Hotels

If you're trying to save money, all inclusive hotels can actually help you do that because once you're on holiday in Tenerife, you don't have to worry about spending anything, unless you venture outside of your resort, of course. There are lots of Tenerife hotels which offer both an all inclusive and half board dining basis, and usually have a children's section of the buffet too, but it's also great to get out and explore.

All inclusive hotels in Tenerife worth looking at include Paradise Park Hotel in Los Cristianos, Be Live Experience Orotava in Puerto de la Cruz, and the Hotel Best Tenerife in Playa de Las Americas, each of which offer something a little different depending on the type of holiday you're after.

If you're splashing the cash, two hotels to definitely take a look at are the Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife in Playa Paraiso, a lively and family friendly resort (loads of great reviews on TripAdvisor), and the huge and luxurious Gran Melia Palacio de Isora, which has one of the largest swimming pools in Europe, and RedLevel, their dedicated adults only section.

Hotels In Playa De Las Americas

Playa de las Americas is one of the most popular holiday resorts on the island. This beachfront destination is home to the famous Veronica's Strip with it's famous bars and restaurants, plenty of shopping and lots of great hotels, ranging from adult only hotels to self catering apartments.

There are three main beaches here, Playa del Camison with its golden sand, Playa de las Americas which has both a sandy and rocky beachfront, and Playa de Troya offering Tenerife's typical black sand beach.

Key hotels to take a look at here include the very popular Sol Tenerife which sits on the promenade front and next door to Veronica's, which is perfect if you love lively nightlife that's close to everything, and Parque Santiago IV which is a more quieter place further down the promenade towards Los Cristianos.

Hotels In Costa Adeje

Considered a little more upmarket, the Costa Adeje is just north of Las Americas and is home to sprawling 5-star family friendly hotels like the GF Victoria with its iconic rooftop bar and infinity pool, and the gorgeous Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque Resort which offers multiple pools, a great kids' club and is just across the promenade from the beach.

The Costa Adeje area stretches quite a long way, so make sure to check where the hotel is in relation to other attractions, bars and restaurants, as it could be a bit of a walk if you were only bed & breakfast or half board and ventured out for dinner. For example, the H10 Costa Adeje Palace is a great 4-star hotel at the very north of the area (close to Playa de la Enramada and La Caleta) is actually about a 30 minute walk from Costa Adeje beach.

Best Hotels In Tenerife

Hotels With Water Slides

Most hotels in Tenerife with water slides are more toddler orientated, with smaller slides and splash pools, rather than big scary flumes. But saying that, hotels worth looking at are theIberostar Bouganville Playa in Costa Adeje, the Adrian Roca Nivaria Gran Hotel in Playa Paraiso, and the Landmar Playa de la Arena. Of course, if in doubt, book a day out at Siam Park!

Hotels Near The Airport

While there aren't any "airport hotels", if you prefer your holiday resort to be closer to the airport to minimise the transfer time, some of the nearest hotels to Tenerife South Airport include the Royal Tenerife Country Club in the Golf del Sur, Barcelo Tenerife in San Blas, and Hotel Playa Sur in El Medano.

Hotels With Swim Up Rooms

There are a couple of great hotels in Tenerife with swim up rooms, allowing you to jump straight off your terrace into the pool. A great family friendly hotel with swim up rooms is Fantasia Bahia Principe on the Golf del Sur. This fairy-tale themed resort is ideal for kids and better still its just 15 minutes from Tenerife South Airport. If you prefer to be in the heart of all the action, however, the Costa Adeje is home to the Hotel Gran Tacande, a popular five-star resort close to the Plaza del Duque shopping centre and Playa del Duque sandy beach.

Hotels Near Siam Park

Siam Park Water Park is located on the other side of the TF-1 motorway, next to Siam Mall. There will still be a little bit of a walk from the nearest hotels to the waterpark, however, two of the closest hotels near Siam Park are the 4-star Servatur Caribe hotel close to Calle de Polonia and the budget friendly Ponderosa Apart Hotel.

Adult Only Hotels

If you want to escape the kids, or simply prefer not to have screaming children running around the pool, there are a couple of good adults only hotels in Tenerife, including the TUI BLUE Los Gigantes, which has incredible views of the Los Gigantes cliffs and the island of La Gomera, and the Royal Hideaway Corales Beachin Costa Adeje (which has a beautiful infinity pool). If you prefer to really escape and get away from it all, take a look at the adults only Melia Hacienda del Conde, a beautiful golf hotel on the north coast of the island.

Budget Friendly Hotels

Tenerife is also a very budget friendly holiday destination. Hotels here can vary in price but you'll always be able to find a variety of hotels on the lower end of the budget. Two-star hotels and apartments offer a very basic level of comfort but there is a good range of three-star hotels in Tenerife that will keep the cost of your holiday down, without you having to make too many compromises.

Head away from the bright lights of Playa de las Americas to the smaller towns dotted around the island and you'll pick up some great hotel deals. For example, the Grand Muthu Golf Plaza Hotel and Spa is located in the much quieter resort of Golf del Sur, a popular spot for expats buying holiday homes, yet still within walking distance of several restaurants and quieter bars and a 20 minute drive into Las Americas if you really need the buzzing nightlife.

Or head right up and round the island, taking in Tenerife's dramatic scenery before staying at the likes of the Sol Puerto de la Cruz. It's distance from Tenerife Sur airport and slightly more tropical climate may put some off, but this means lower nightly rates than some of Tenerife's more popular hotel locations.

5-Star Hotels In Tenerife

There are loads of five-star hotels in Tenerife, like the fabulous Hard Rock hotel in La Caleta, Costa Adeje, or the impressive Ritz Carlton in Guia de Isora. If your budget allows it, upgrading to a better rated hotel is often a good option, although be sure to figure out where you want to stay.

The Ritz Carlton and Gran Melia Palacio de Isora are two of Tenerife's finest hotels but are self contained complexes further up the coast from the livelier resorts, so don't expect to be heading out clubbing if you're planning on enjoying a luxury stay up in this area of Tenerife.

At the same time, there are a number of popular five-star resorts dotted along the Costa Adeje which allows you more options for heading out and enjoying some local tasty tapas. Try the 5-star Riu Palace Hotel, which offers a resort style stay but only 10 minute walk to local bars, restaurants and Plaza del Duque shopping centre.
