Being an Iberostar hotel, you'll find that most of the top travel agents and tour operators like On The Beach, Thomas Cook, Broadway Travel and Expedia. If you book directly with the tour operator flying you to Tenerife, like TUI and Jet2holiday, they'll usually include one piece of check-in luggage per person, shared airport transfers and sometimes even seat selection. One of the other benefits of booking a package holiday to Bouganville Playa is that you can often pay a low deposit to begin with, and pay off the rest of the balance of your holiday over time.

The alternative is to book your flight and hotel separately, which may work out cheaper if your flights from the UK are with the likes of Ryanair. Booking your flight and hotel individually, either directly through the hotel website, or through a hotel supplier like Booking.com or Hotels.com, will mean that your holiday isn't ABTA or ATOL protected. Amenities

if you're staying on an all inclusive board basis, you'll want to make sure you're taking full advantage of all the facilities and activities on offer at the hotel.

Swimming Pools

There are four outdoor swimming pools here, two of which are children's pools and all are freshwater. Note that there isn't an indoor pool here, nor spa facilities. One of the main outdoor pools and one of the kids pools is heated during the winter months (between 1 Oct - 30 Apr) which can be much needed, especially in December and January when, depsite the weather still being warm and sunny, the pool water can be a little chilly!

The two children's pools have waterslides running into them which is a great addition for extra fun.

There are plenty of sunbeds and parasols within the sunbathing areas, and for those who are staying in a Star Prestige room, you have access to a dedicated, adults only, rooftop area with whirlpool jacuzzi and extra sunbeds.

Spa, Gym & Sports

There isn't a spa here but there is beauty salon and a well equipped gym with everything you need to keep up your fitness programme on holiday...or just help burn off a few of those desserts from the night before. It's open to 16 years and over, and cardio equipment like bikes and treadmills, and free weights will feel hlep feel like your home gym. The salon offers a range of beauty treatments including manicures and massages.

As part of their programme, they do offer fitness classes like aerobics, aqua aerobics and yoga if you prefer to avoid the gym but still burn off a few calories, and there's also sports like ping pong, darts and a pool table too.

Entertainment

Throughout the year, you can enjoy an organised programme of both daytime and evening entertainment, ranging from anything like competitions in the pool to evening quizzes before the live music and entertainment in the Hall Bar.

Star Camp Kids Club

There's a dedicated kids' club which is split into three age groups (4-7 years, 8-12 years and 13-17 years old). Each has a range of fun and exciting activities to help keep the youngsters busy while you're enjoying time by the pool. Arts and crafts, sports, drama and music fun, plus movie nights are all on offer which they are sure to love. There's also an adventure play area and children's playground, as well as a games room with all the classic arcade games you'd expect.

Food & Drink

With a main restaurant and multiple bars including the pool bar, all you need is here, but you're within walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants if you prefer to head out, explore and try somewhere else.

All inclusive, half board and bed & breakfast options are available at the hotel, with all meals being served in the buffet restaurant.

Main Restaurant - With showcooking and a mix of both traditional Canarian dishes and international cuisines, the main buffet restaurant is the location for all of your main meals if you're on a full board or all inclusive basis. There is a dress code for men which is that swimwear can't be worn and a t-shirt or top must be worn.

Bars

Barbecoa Snack Bar

Barbecoa is the hotel's snack bar and reserved for all inclusive guests. Open from 11am until 6pm, it's a self service bar with a range of dishes including pizza and sandwiches available to be enjoyed with fantastic ocean views.

Pool Bar

Available from 10am until 6pm, the pool bar ensures you can stay hydrated with your favourite cocktail or soft drink throughout the day from the comfort of your sun lounger. Along with plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, light bites are also available to buy here.

Lanzarote Bar

As the evening rolls around, if you prefer a quieter drink before or after dinner, the Lanzarote Bar in the lobby is the perfect place to do so.

Hall Bar

Things To Do

The Iberostar Bouganville Playa hotel sits at the core of Tenerife's most popular holiday resorts. A few hundred metres north is Puerto Colon, Playa de la Pinta and the San Eugenio shopping centre, while a few hundred metres south brings you into Playa de Las Americas with its bars, restaurants, shops and other attractions.

Shops Nearby

The Centro Commercial San Eugenio shopping centre is a five minute walk away and is home to a range of shops and restaurants including clothes and sports shops, perfume store and a beauty salon. There's also a good sized Mercadona supermarket here for any extra bits you may have forgotten or can help you stock up if you're booking on a bed & breakfast holiday.

Beach

While the hotel's pool area overlooks the promenade and seafront, the nearest balck sand beach is Playa de El Bobo in a little cove which is protected by rocks, making the waves much more calmer and enjoyable. There are sunbeds and beach umbrellas which can be hired here, as well as a number of bars and ice cream shops along the promenade to help make sure you don't go hungry.

Waterparks

The hotel is equidistant from both Siam Park and Aqualand waterparks, both of which are about 500m away making them easy to get to for a fun-filled, family day out with waterslides, flumes rides and a brilliant wave pool.

Excursions

There are so many exciting things to do in Tenerife, from whale watching boat trips to star gazing at the top of Mount Teide. You can either book these excursions in advance (which is recommended so you aren't disappointed) or booked once you've arrived. There are plenty of shops and outlets which sell the various tickets on offer or the hotel staff can also help you organise this.

Nightlife

If the evening entertainment isn't enough, you're within easy reach of plenty of places, including bars and nightclubs. Veronica's strip in Las Americas is about a 20 minute walk away if you really want a very lively night out.

Cycling

Tenerife is well known for cycling with winding roads offering incredible views throughout the island, as well as rocky paths through the various terrains for mountain biking. If you're visiting Tenerife to enjoy road or mountain biking, this Iberostar is a great option as it has a dedicated bike station where you can store your bike with video surveillance cameras, plus a bike repair workshop and washing area. The knowledgable staff here will also be able to recommend and advise on local biking routes too.

Getting Here

If you're on a package holiday, you may find that your airport transfer is already included within the price of your booking. This can be a great way to save money. Alternatively, taxis are available from outside the airport terminal and will cost around €30 each way. There are regular bus services into Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje from the airport too. You can pikc up a prepaid (and top-up) Titsa card to use on the bus. It's worth noting that the section of motorway between Costa Adeje and Los Cristanos can get very busy with traffic so make sure you factor this into your journey time if travelling independently.
