The Algarve, Portugal
The Algarve is one popular holiday destination that Ryanair flies to. Faro, the Algarve's main airport, is served by Ryanair from Newquay between March and October for the summer season from as little as £29.99 each way, so you can stick within your budget easily. From here, you can visit great towns and beaches including Albufeira, Lagos and Vilamoura which all have budget friendly hotels and resorts.

Bear in mind the time spent getting to, from and at the airport, the flight from Newquay to Gatwick takes around 1 hour 15 minutes. A car journey can take between 4 and a half to 5 hours, while the train will take around 5 and a half hours (changing trains along the way).
About Newquay Airport
Obviously the biggest advantage of flying from Newquay is that it's local to those living in Cornwall but there are a number of other great advantages why should book your holiday from here.
Newquay airport is small, which means there are only a few flights, and no where near as many people trying to check in and go through security all at the same time. Fewer passengers means fewer queues, less stress, a far more enjoyable experience and best of all, a great start to your holiday.
Being a small airport, the number of facilities available are limited. Coffee Republic is the food and drink outlet at Newquay airport. There is one located at check-in and the other after departures. There is also a shop in departures with a variety of local Cornish products. Car hire is also available with Hertz and Europcar both offering serviced rental locations here.
Car Parking
If you're arriving by car, there are several car parks close to the airport terminal. The closest is the east car park and has limited availability so it's best to book this early and in advance. Being close to the terminal does mean the cost will be more.
Public Transport
If travelling by public transport to the airport, the best option is using the number 56 bus which runs between Newquay and Padstow and stops at Cornwall Airport. Taxis can also be picked up outside the airport terminal.
Booking Your Holiday
With Ryanair being the main international airline, you can book your holiday or city break through tour operators like On The Beach Ltd, loveholidays, or the online travel agent Expedia. It is important to book with an ABTA or ATOL protected company to ensure your money is financially protected should any company go bust, however, if you do decide to book your own holiday, booking the flights and hotel separately (or self catering apartments or villas), make sure you have comprehensive travel insurance.
