Las Ramblas is an iconic part of Barcelona's culture and livelihood, and it's also quite central and well located for exploring the city, so you may feel like you need to stay in the area, especially if you're only on a short break. While much of Barcelona is very accessible so you don't always need to stay in the city centre, Las Ramblas does have plenty to offer. The road stretches all the way from Placa de Catalunya down to the port and it's worth bearing in mind that staying in such a tourist hotspot may not mean the discounts you were hoping for with a three star hotel.

The beach is a popular reason many tourists visit Barcelona, so being another tourist hotspot, even the 3 star hotels may come at a slightly higher cost due to the proximity of the beach. Barceloneta Beach, being so close to the city centre will have higher hotel prices than other hotels further up the coast. Try staying around the area of Badalona or Sant Andrea de Besos if you want more of a budget friendly stay.

If your plan is to enjoy a short break in Barcelona, you'll probably want to stay within the city centre so that you have easy access to all the sights and sounds on offer.
