Getting To, From And Around The Dom Rep
There are direct flights from the UK to the Dominican Republic, flying into Punta Cana with airlines like British Airways and TUI. There are also indirect options via the USA which may sometimes be cheaper than direct flights, and can also allow you to take advantage of twin centre holidays, such as the Dom Rep with Miami or New York. Holiday flights land into Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ).
Once you've arrived, it's easiest to get an airport transfer which can be booked in advance or if you've booked a package holiday with the likes of TUI, this may be included in the price of your holiday. Taxis are another good option, however, hiring a car is a great way to explore the island in your own time (be sure not to cross the border into Haiti). Alternatively, an organised tour or excursion will allow you to see more of the country, with a knowledgable guide.

Weather
The weather in the Dominican Republic is like much of the Caribbean with lots of sunshine throughout the year. Daytime temperatures range between 25°C and 28°C no matter what month you visit, although they do increase during the northern Summer between June and August.
Rainy Season
The rainy season is between May and October, with August and September the most likely months to experience a hurricane. Downpours can often be short but very heavy, with most of the rain falling in the mountains in the middle of the island or on the north coast.
Best Time To Go
The best time to visit the Dominican Republic is during the winter months between December and February if you want hot and dry weather. Months like March, April and November may also be good if you don't mind a little rain.
