Dispite its misleading name, the Holiday Inn Express York, is actually situated quite a way outside the city centre in Hopgrove. With a Toby Carvery next door, there's plenty of free parking here, but it's certainly not walking distance to York city centre. Instead, you can drive to Monks Cross Shopping Park and take the park and ride into the city, costing around £4 for a standard return ticket. Free breakfast is included here.

Located on busy Walmgate, the Hotel Indigo York is within easy reach of exploring this historic city. There isn't parking at the hotel, but a 3 minute walk away there is limited parking for guests on a first come first served basis. But if you do miss out, Peel Street car park is next door and open 24 hours a day.
