Dubai Destinations From Glasgow Airport
In recent years Dubai has become a sprawling metropolis, far from its origins as a desert village. With so many areas to visit, it's important to choose the right area for you and your holiday. After all, you don't want to be in the city's business district if all you want is to spend your day on the beach.
The Palm Jumeirah
One of the most iconic parts of the city, ThePalm Dubai Jumeirah lies off the main coastline, just south of Jumeirah Beach. It's here you'll find a whole host of luxurious hotels and self catering Airbnbs, each within steps of the gorgeous sandy beaches that Dubai is known for. At the very top of the palm is The Atlantis Dubai, a huge resort with hotel, a wide range of exquisite restaurants including Nobu, Hakkasan and Gordon Ramsey's Street Pizza, as well as the Aquaventure water park, an absolute must-do for any visitor to the city.
Downtown Dubai
Downtown Dubai is home to the iconic Dubai Fountain, Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, and Dubai Mall, home to plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you busy. Hotels in this area include the Address Downtown, Vida Downtown and the Sofitel Dubai Downtown. You'll also find the Dubai Opera and Souk Al Bahar here, offering real mix of cultural activities.
Dubai Marina
Filled with high rises apartments and hotels along the waterfront, Dubai Marina has a very cosmopolitan feel. A short walk to Marina Beach and JBR Beach, hotels in this area include The Ritz Carlton Dubai, Crowne Plaza Dubai Marina and Wyndham Dubai Marina. Spend your days strolling along the water front, sipping cocktails at the Dubai Marina Yacht Club or browsing the stores at Dubai Marina Mall.
Jumeirah Beach
Depending on who you ask, Jumeirah Beach is split into several different areas, from Jumeirah Open Beach and Sunrise Beach to the north, down past Kite Beach to Jumeirah Public Beach in the south. It's actually quite a residential area here, but you'll find some great hotels dotted about, like the Four Seasons Resort, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and, of course, the luxuriously unaffordable Burj Al Arab.
Bur Dubai
Bur Dubai is one of the closest areas to Dubai International Airport (DXB). Hotels here are a bit more orientated towards business travellers, but can be much more affordable than other parts of the city. If you're looking for a cheap Dubai holiday, this could be a good option. Take a look at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai M Square which offers a rooftop pool, and is conveniently located close to Bur Juman metro station and shopping centre, with a direct train to Dubai Airport and down to the Burj Khalifa, Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Marina.
Tour Operators
Direct flights with Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and Emirates, as well as indirect flights via Europe, plus a whole host ofDubai hotels and resorts to choose from can be a bit of a minefield, so booking through an ATOL or ABTA protected tour operator can give you some peace of mind.

Holiday Types
Last Minute Escapes
Large planes and lots of hotel options make last minute holidayw to Dubai from Glasgow often very affordable. You'll want to be flexible, and one of the cheapest times of the year is during the summer months of July and August when the weather is sweltering, so if you see a great deal during summer, beware of the heat during that time. You'll definitely want air-conditioning and a pool.
Free Child Places
Although many Dubai hotels have family friendly and interconnecting rooms, you won't usually find free child place holidays to Dubai. The flights can be much more expensive than popular European destinations like Turkey or Spain, so it's hard to justify offering this free. That said, there are still some fantastic deals and offers available, particularly at Dubai parks like IMG Worlds of Adventure, Motiongate® Dubai and Legoland® Dubai. Take a look at Dubai Parks & Resorts for the latest offers.
Adult Only Holidays
If it's a grown up escape, while many hotels aren't exclusive to adults, you can still enjoy an adult only holiday here. Many of the big hotels like the JA Palm Tree Court and the Five Palm Jumeirah have dedicated adults only areas or pools which can ensure you're not surrounded by screaming kids enjoying the swimming pools. There are also a number of great beach bars which are for adults only.
Things To Do
So much to do, so little time, Dubai has a mind-boggling number of things to discover and enjoy.
Shopping
There are some huge shopping malls here, like the Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Mall and Dubai Marina Mall. You can easily spend a fortune here, but there are also many souks to explore too.
Burj Khalifa
Head up the tallest tower in the world, although the viewing platform isn't the highest. Views stretch far and wide, and if you make it on a cloudy morning, you might also be able to see Dubai from a completely different view...above the clouds.
Water Parks
There are two fun-filled water parks here. Aquaventure at the Atlantis on the Palm Jumeirah, and Wild Wadi Waterpark at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. If you're staying at the hotel, you can get free access to that particular one, otherwise it's often worth booking in advance to avoid disappointment. With attractions from wave pools and splash parks for kids to thrilling waterslides for adults, there's plenty to enjoy.
Theme Parks
The theme parks here keep popping up, ensuring that even on boiling hot days, you can spend time indoors. How about Neon Galaxy, Legoland® Water Park or even Ski Dubai, an indoor ski centre for a quick skiing or snowboarding lesson.
Desert Safari
Take advantage of the incredible location of the city by jumping in a 4x4 jeep and heading out to the sand dunes on a desert safari. Go dune bashing, enjoying a cultural experience at a desert camp or simply capture images of the inspiring Arabian desert. Or for an extra special treat, why not stay overnight at one of the stunning desert resorts here.
Abu Dhabi
Dubai is just one of the seven states that make up the United Arab Emirates. The capital is actually Dubai and is about an hours drive from Dubai (depending where you are travelling from). Why not jump in a taxi and head to Yas Island to discover Ferrari World, Yas Marina Circuit and Warner Brothers Studios?
