All Inclusive Holidays In Portugal Guide
A Guide To All Inclusive
There are plenty of reasons why all inclusive holidays to Portugal are such a popular choice for Brits. Portugal is easy to get to, there's a huge number of all inclusive resorts from Lisbon and Cascais to the Costa de Algarve and there's plenty of sunshine, to name just a few. As with booking any holiday, always look to see what is actually included in the price of your getaway, as things like check-in luggage and airport transfers may not automatically be included in the cost.
While self catering is a popular option, all inclusive holidays to the Algarve are an ideal option if you want to escape and not have to worry about meal or drink prices for the family. Usually local alcoholic drinks are included, along with good food, and especially in the Algarve, outdoor pools and hotel entertainment.
Adults Only
There are a few adult only hotels in Portugal which offer all inclusive dining, however, you are likely to find these as Full Board options, meaning not everything will be included. TUI's TUI BLUE FOR TWO brand of hotels includes the TWO BLUE Falesia, a popular adult only resort between Albufeira and Vilamoura, which offers a range of board basis'.
Family Holidays
An all inclusive family holiday allows everyone the freedom to eat what they want, when they want, without having to worry about spending extra while you're away. Many hotels now also have dedicated children's buffet sections of the main restaurant, as well as dedicated kids clubs and activities, and don't forget those all important poolside drinks and ice creams in the afternoon.
Popular All Inclusive Resorts
Albufeira, Algarve
Albufeira is the busiest and most popular holiday resort along the Algarve, with soft, sandy beaches, plenty of sunshine throughout the year and great all inclusive holiday resorts. There's easy access to plenty of bars and restaurants so a half board or bed & breakfast option might be better, but if you prefer to go all inc, take a look at hotels like the Monica Isabel Beach Club or the budget friendly Sao Rafael Suites.
Lagos, Algarve
As one of the most western resorts on the Algarve, Lagos is further from Faro airport, but accommodation here can also be a bit cheaper. It's a fun resort, with a number of small cove beaches and the long stretch of sandy Praia de Sao Roque beach. Great all inclusive hotels in Lagos include the Iberostar Selection Lagos Algarve and the Vila Gale Lagos.
Vilamoura, Algarve
Being a popular spot on the Algarve due to its proximity to the airport, all inclusive holidays to Vilamoura, can mean you could be on the ground and by the pool before lunchtime. The Dom Pedro Vilamoura hotel is just a short walk to the beach and marina, and one of the many hotels in the area which offer all inclusive packages, although you're bound to want to explore a little and try one or two of the local restaurants.
Lisbon Coast & Silver Coast
Lisbon is really more of a city break type of place, but if you head out to the coast to areas like Cascais and Estoril, you might find one or two AI resorts dotted about to take advantage off. Head further up the coast and you'll reach the Portuguese Silver Coast, a popular stretch of coastline offering a number of smaller holiday resorts, typically favoured by locals.
Madeira
Out in the Atlantic you also have Madeira, and neighbouring Porto Santo. This lush green island and it's neighbouring sister islands offer dramatic scenery and a beautiful alternative if you love the Portuguese culture but don't fancy the mainland. From the budget friendly Pestana Ocean Bay to the four-star plus Enotel Lido Resort, you've got a variety of options to choose from, although you will definitely want to explore the island.
Best All Inclusive Resorts For Families
Most of the hotels in the Algarve are really well catered for families, often offering kids clubs, daytime and evening entertainment, and even a dedicated kids section in the restaurant at mealtimes. Take a look at some family favourites including the Adriana Beach Club Hotel in Albufeira or the Alvor Baia Resort Hotel in Alvor. When you book a package with some of the bigger tour operators, they may also be able to include extras like tickets to Zoomarine theme park or Slide & Splash Waterpark.
Popular Brands
When booking an all inclusive holiday, top brands like TUI andJet2holidays will usually automatically include your airport transfers and luggage, while other travel agents and tour operators may not include this within the advertised cost of the holiday, so always check what is and isn't included.
TUI
TUI is certainly a popular choice for all inclusive holidays in Portugal with brands like TUI MAGIC LIFE and TUI BLUE For Families both offering ATOL protected package holidays.
Jet2holidays
Award winning Jet2holidays has provided outstanding customer service throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. While the range of hotels may be smaller, their tagline "package holidays you can trust" has never been truer, as they carefully select their hotel partners to ensure their customers enjoy fantastic holidays in the Portuguese sunshine.
Love Holidays
Love Holidays is another popular tour operator serving Portugal. Many holidays will just be the flight and hotel package, so you may want to add on extras like luggage and transfers when you book.
