Benidorm's Solana Hotel
If you've ever watched the comedy TV series 'Benidorm', you'll recognise that Benidorm's Solana Hotel in real life is the Sol Pelicanos Ocas Hotel. The Benidorm TV show made this hotel famous but the lagoon pool and the outside of the hotel are as far as the similarities go. Now part of the Melia brand, the Sol Pelicanos/Ocas in Benidorm is a far cry from the grotty rooms you might be used to seeing on the TV, having had a modern refurbishment a number of years ago. You can also visit Neptunes Bar (not actually part of the hotel) across the road from the Sol Pelicanos. It's worth noting that in a number of TripAdvisor reviews, the hotel gets a lot of people coming in from outside the hotel to grab a snap for Instagram.
Sol Pelicanos Reviews
Although officially a three star hotel, the Sol Pelicanos Ocas reviews as of 2024 rate the hotel four out of five by guests reviewing on TripAdvisor. Most positive comments are about the cleanliness of the hotel and really friendly and courteous staff which is no surprise considering this is a Melia hotel. A couple of the negative comments did mention the food being a bit basic and boring, however, the main restaurants offer buffet style dining so you've got lots of options to choose from. The other comment was around the fact that the swim up pool bar is only open during July and August.
