Lisbon Holidays Guide
Lisbon is one of those cities that has probably been on your bucket list for a while but it's really time to move it up the list. It's become very trendy in recent years despite being one of the oldest cities in the world and has a wealth of funky bars and cafes to enjoy, as well as discovering some incredibly history.
Getting To, From And Around Lison
Flying to Lisbon from the UK will take just under three hours with multiple airlines flying direct, making it easy to enjoy a weekend break or a longer holiday in the Portuguese capital.
Getting around the city is easy. One of the best ways to explore Lisbon is by foot but the teams and buses provide an excellent alternative to ease any aching feet.
Things To Do In Lisbon
There's a lot of history in the city, but if your holiday in Lisbon is short, you'll want to tick off some key attractions. Combine a trip on the iconic Lisbon tram with a trip up to the Alfama district where the old streets give you a glimpse into the rich history of Lisbon. Follow this with a visit to the castle and you've got your first morning sorted.
Where To Stay In Lisbon
One of the coolest areas to stay in Lisbon is in Cais do Sodre. Once considered a rather rough and avoidable part of town, in recent years it's had a bit of a makeover, enjoying a range of upgrades but some of its history still remains.
Baixa is a popular area to stay with plenty of sights to be explored nearby. But the real heart of Lisbon is in the Alfama quarter, the oldest area of the city. Narrow streets up windy hills make this a less accessible part of Lisbon but it's sure to impress.
