Inghams Lakes & Mountains 2024/2025
A Guide To Inghams Lakes & Mountains Holidays
Inghams Lakes & Mountains holidays are the perfect way to explore more of the outdoors, whether you're adventurous or not. With beautiful summer destinations like Italy, Austria and even Canada, you can get out and explore areas like the Swiss Alps, the Norwegian Fjords and the Canadian Rockies. Hotels can vary from boutique accommodations in the mountain towns to larger resorts with alpine spas and much more, so you'll find something to suit you, even if you just prefer to relax and taking in the views.
Italy
From the shores of Lake Garda to the peaks of the Dolomites, Italy is a truly stunning country with some seriously impressive scenery. This is your chance to discover the enchanting views over the likes of Lake Como and Lake Maggiore, enjoying leisurely walks along the shorefront, before taking a cruise on the lake to take in the sights from a different vantage point.
If you love heading into the hills, you'll love the little mountain towns like Selva and Merano. Perfect places to stay as a base so you can go hiking, mountain biking and much more in the area. And why not book a twin centre holiday, combining the best of the Italian Dolomites with time at the beaches of Sardinia or Puglia.
Austria
One of the best things about a Lakes & Mountains holiday in Austria, is the ability to combine two destinations in one, so that you can enjoy the cafes of Salzburg, before heading to Zell am See, a beautiful holiday resort, offering both lake and mountains, so you can take part in a variety of activities including heading up in the gondola to enjoy mountain walks.
If you like trying somewhere new, take a look at some of Austria's cute, little Alpine towns and villages like Alpbach, Mayrhofen, Seefeld and St Anton, which are filled with colourful flowers in the summer and cute hotels, and are perfect for enjoying the dramatic landscapes of the country.
Switzerland
When you think of a holiday with lakes and mountains, Switzerland is very likely at the top of your list. Famous for yummy Swiss cheese, delicious chocolate and, of course, the seriously impressive Matterhorn, on the border with Italy. Switzerland has some wonderful mountain resorts, well known for skiing in winter but in summer, they are a fabulous place to enjoy the green slopes and forests, mixed with dramatic rock faced mountains.
Popular Swiss mountain resorts include Davos and Zermatt, while Montreux on Lake Geneva is idyllic if you prefer to be lakeside. Of course, you can't miss Interlaken either, which sits between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz but offers a beautiful mountain backdrop too. And how about combining a twin centre stay to see more of the country, like a few nights in Geneva and a couple of nights in a chalet hotel in Wengen.
Slovenia
You might not have considered Slovenia for your next holiday but if you love the outdoors, it's definitely somewhere to think about. The scenery in Slovenia is something off Instagram with popular areas like Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj offering crystal clear water and a wealth of walking routes to enjoy. And don't forget Kranjska Gora, a little alpine village in the far north west of Slovenia, close to the border of Italy and Austria, which is popular with skiiers in the winter months.
One of the great things about Slovenia is the ability to stay in both Ljubljana for a quick city break, before heading off to lose yourself amongst the trees, lakes and mountain tops. You can even combine a holiday in Slovenia with a stay in Austria.
More Lakes & Mountains Destinations
Inghams also offer other destinations as part of it's lakes and mountains offering, including France, Germany, Iceland and Norway. If you're family with Chamonix as a winter destination, take a look at what's on offer during the summer months, or perhaps a trip to the Norwegian Fjords is more up your street, enjoying the landscape from the water as you kayak your way amongst the mountains.
For somewhere on everyones bucketlist, take a trip to Iceland to take a dip in Iceland's most famous geothermal spa, the Blue Lagoon, before heading out on an excursion to track down the northern lights for a once in a lifetime photo opportunity. Or what about Canada? Head across the pond and enjoy combining a city like Montreal, Ottawa or Vancouver with the chance to get out into the wilderness and see wild bears.
Excursions
Depending on where you choose to visit, there are a variety of excursions and tours available which you can add onto your holiday when you book. These are the perfect way to experience more of the local area and try something new. For example, if you're staying in the Italian Lakes, why not book onto a wine tasting excursion, to try some of the local flavours, or add a tour of the lakes onto your trip.
If you're a fan of the mountains and heading to Austria, why not book onto a day trip to head across the border into Germany and gawp at the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle, or a trip down to Italy to spend a day wandering about the lakeside town of Malcesine. If you're heading to Canada, you can choose from a number of escorted and self guided tours, with adventures like the Rocky Mountaineer train or heading into the Yukon to catch a glimpse of the spectacular northern lights.
Adding on an excursion can be easily done when you book. Simply ask about the excursions available when speaking to your Inghams travel consultant.

You may be able to find some great deals and discounts in a variety of ways to help save on the cost of your next Lakes & Mountains holiday. Firstly, keep an eye out for special offers that Inghams may have out, which often can be for specific destinations. Secondly, discount codes are another one worth searching online for. These can also be specific to a destination or travel period, but are a great way to get a discount off of your outdoors holiday. Finally if you're flexible, last minute deals can be another great way to save on your next holiday if you are able to get up and go within a few weeks. Unfortunately, Inghams don't offer free child places on their Lakes & Mountains holidays but if you book in advance, you can put down a deposit and pay for your holiday over a period of time.
