## What Is Ryanair Prime?
 
Ryanair Prime is Ryanair’s membership programme, allowing travellers to pay to access benefits like exclusive discounts, seat reservations and travel insurance on Ryanair flights.
 

Costing from £79 per year (at the time of launch in 2025), [Ryanair Prime](https://www.ryanair.com/gb/en/lp/explore/membership) is pegged as a subscription service rather than a loyalty programme. The airline claims that even if you travel just 3 times a year, Ryanair Prime members could save £105 as a result of the benefits (vs the price of £79 per year). Or save up to £420 if you fly 12 times a year.
 

The subscription service is initially capped at 250,000 members on a first-come, first-serve basis and aims to capture more customer loyalty.
 

It’s still a far cry from easyJet Plus, easyJet’s own loyalty programme which although costs 4 times as much, carries many more benefits such as fast track security, speedy boarding, onboard discounts and free earlier return flight changes on the day.

## What Are The Benefits?
 
There are currently three main benefits to Ryanair Prime members:
- Access to 12 exclusive sales each year (one per month)
- Free reserved seats (up to a maximum of 12 flights per year), on selected seats
- Annual travel insurance for when you fly Ryanair
 
 

## Is It Worth It?
 
If you fly Ryanair multiple times a year and always reserve a seat, then yes it can be worth it. However, if you have a separate travel insurance, you don’t fly Ryanair very often and you don’t usually reserve seats, then it probably isn’t worth it. It's only available when booking flight only direct through the Ryanair.com website. So not if you're booking a [holiday with Ryanair flights](/holidays/cheap-holidays-with-ryanair-flights) through tour operators like loveholidays or On The Beach.
 
 

### The Catch
 
Before you buy it, make sure to check the terms and conditions. A few small-print items are easy to miss:
 
**Seat reservation limitations** – Only selected rows are available for free seat reservations. If you're eyeing those front row or extra legroom seats, you're still paying.
 


**Sales may not include bags** – Like most Ryanair promotions, the exclusive sales likely only apply to the base fare. Once you add baggage or extras, the savings shrink.
 


**No flexibility benefits** – If you want to change your flight, there’s no added flexibility with Prime. You’ll still have to pay standard change fees unless you’ve bought other bundles.
 


**Not really "travel insurance"** – It’s unclear how comprehensive the included insurance is. If it only covers the flight and excludes accommodation or medical costs, many travellers will still need separate cover.
 
 
## Who Is Ryanair Prime Actually For?
 
 This is not a one-size-fits-all membership. It’s best suited to:
 
**Frequent leisure travellers** – If you’re popping over to Europe every couple of months, the monthly sales and reserved seat benefit can pay off fast.
 


**Remote workers or digital nomads** – Flying regularly from different European hubs? A guaranteed seat and flight insurance (even if basic) can add peace of mind for Ryanair Prime members.
 


**Ryanair loyalists** – If you already fly Ryanair by default, this just streamlines your experience and saves some money.
 


On the flip side, families might not find as much value unless every member has Prime (unclear if benefits apply across bookings), and occasional flyers will definitely not get their money’s worth.
 
### Can You Cancel The Membership?
 
You can cancel your Ryanair Prime membership, however, you will not get a refund. The cancellation will be effective from the end of the current membership year. There is a 14 day cooling off period, whereby if you have not used any of the benefits, you can get a refund.

## Our Review
 
If Ryanair is looking to capture loyal customers, this is an interesting first step, but passengers want more than just a free seat and some free travel insurance which is only valid when flying Ryanair).
 

Although it’s not deemed a loyalty programme, we still feel that the extra benefits like speedy boarding and fast track security provide a much more loyalty focused experience.
 

Being honest, it’s a bit…measly. But it’s a starting point and may benefit certain customers.
